One dead, two injured at San Francisco Pride

A 19-year-old man is dead and two other people are recovering after a shooting at San Francisco's 40th Pride celebrations. The incident took place at around 11.30pm on Saturday evening in the Castro district.

The Castro has been a popular place for gay men and lesbians since the '60s.

According to Pink News, the streets were full of pride attendees when an unidentified man pulled out a gun and began firing.

Chaos reigned for a short while as police officers rushed into the crowd who began to throw bottles and other objects in response to the sound of the gunfire.

The gunman was arrested at the scene. Police have stated it was not a gay hate crime and it was likely the gunman knew at least one of the victims.
