In recognition of the first Valentine’s Day since the Delhi high court decriminalized gay sex in July, the largest card chain in India is selling greetings tailored to same-sex romance.
Explaining the special designs for gay cards, Aria said two cards for gay partners depict two boys holding hands. The lesbian version it has two girls holding hands and the message on the inside leaf reads – ‘For my girl friend from your girl friend’.
An Archies spokesman said the company had been considering the idea for a while, but the court decision, viewed as a reflection of growing acceptance of gay people, prompted the move now.
