Being Homophoic cost Philly Scouts $200k

Refusing to disavow the Boy Scouts of America ban on gays will cost a local branch in Philadelphia $200, 000 a year. The headquarters is city owned and they have in place a human rights ordinance that covers gay rights. The headquarters is on a half acre in upscale Philadelphia Art Museum area and the scouts get it rent-free “in perpetuity” for upkeep of the building. This week Fairmount Park Commission president Robert N.C. Nix said that the scouts have refused to compromise and the commission has informed the Cradle of Liberty Council it will have to pay full market value for use of the facility. City officials say it would be illegal to provide a taxpayer-owned property rent-free to a private organization that discriminates. Not only do the Boy Scouts of America discriminate but they also teach the children that it is bad to be gay. It is very sad not to teach tolerance for everybody and Im not sure if this really is “Timeless Values” as stated on their logo.
