Spartacus Gay Traval Guide Names Sweden as Most Friendly Destination


The Spartacus International Gay Guide has deemed Sweden as the most gay-friendly destination in the world. The Berlin-based publication released its list of LGBT-friendly nations, scoring countries in 15 different categories with Sweden taking home the most points.Categories in the Spartacus index include the very positive (anti-discrimination legislation, marketing to the gay community), to the extremely negative (hostility by locals, death sentences for homosexuality).

Belgium and the Netherlands tied for second place, scoring just a point less than Sweden. Iceland and Canada tied for fourth.

The UK appeared in the 6th position. Australia came in the 20th spot and US was the 36th.

The least gay-friendly place on Earth? Iran, coming in at number 126.
