One of my favorite movies, 2005 Kinky Boots is getting ready for a musical. Kinky Boots will pair music and lyrics by Lauper with a book by Fierstein, who previously wrote Torch Song Trilogy and the book for the musical adaptation of La Cage aux Folles.
The musical will open at Chicago’s Bank of America Theatre in October and could transfer to Broadway some time next season. No casting has been announced.
The 2005 British comedy, based on a true story, starred Chiwetel Ejiofor as a drag diva named Lola who helps a man save his late father’s shoe factory from bankruptcy. Check out the clip below.
