A report released by the UN Joint Program on HIV/AIDS shows that about 33 million people around the world were infected with HIV as of last year. 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day. This is a time to remember those that have passed from this disease. A time to think about whether "bareback" porn titles are really hotter. A time to talk about safer sex. A time to pass along what we have learned to those who have come after us. A time to remember that HIV is not a "gift" but a virus that can never be given back. A time to petition the government to do more for those millions living with this disease. A time to rejoice that you're still alive. A time to realize how much more work must be done to rid ourselves of this disease.
