18 Men Arrested In Sex Sting At L.A.'s Manhattan Beach Public Restroom
Several undercover stings involving public beach restrooms have ended in the arrest of 18 men for unlawful sexual activities.
Los Angeles County Lifeguards alerted Manhattan Beach police to unusual activity taking place at a public bathroom located at Marine Avenue at The Beach, authorities said.
“The same men were frequently using and returning to the location, and men were loitering in the area as well as inside the restroom for long periods of time,” Stephanie Martin of MBPD said.
Lifeguards and maintenance staff also found graffiti that depicted “graphic sexual images as well as holes that were drilled in the partitions of the bathroom stalls,” Martin said.
Manhattan Beach detectives began monitoring websites and chat rooms where discussions about the “Marine Bathroom” were taking place and determined the restroom was being used as a meeting place for sexual activity, police said.
The men, aged 21 to 59-years-old, were arrested on a range of charges including soliciting and engaging in lewd conduct in a public place, loitering, utilizing a peephole in a restroom, invasion of privacy and indecent exposure.

Spartacus Gay Traval Guide Names Sweden as Most Friendly Destination
The Spartacus International Gay Guide has deemed Sweden as the most gay-friendly destination in the world. The Berlin-based publication released its list of LGBT-friendly nations, scoring countries in 15 different categories with Sweden taking home the most points.Categories in the Spartacus index include the very positive (anti-discrimination legislation, marketing to the gay community), to the extremely negative (hostility by locals, death sentences for homosexuality).
Belgium and the Netherlands tied for second place, scoring just a point less than Sweden. Iceland and Canada tied for fourth.
The UK appeared in the 6th position. Australia came in the 20th spot and US was the 36th.
The least gay-friendly place on Earth? Iran, coming in at number 126.

Turkish Military Says "Prove You Are Gay"
Gay Turkish youths are being forced to prove their sexuality to avoid being conscripted into the army. There are no specific anti-gay laws in Turkey, but out gay men aren't welcome in the military, giving them little encouragement to carry out the duty their country requires of them.
In an interview with the BBC, Armagan Kuloglu, a retired Turkish army general, said openly gay servicemen would create "disciplinary problems" and disruptive and expensive "separate facilities, separate dormitories [and] training areas" to be built.
"When someone comes out and says he is gay, then the army needs to make sure that he is truly gay, and not simply lying to evade his mandatory duty to serve in the military," he said.Gay men looking for an exemption certificate (a "pink certificate") on the grounds of homosexuality say they must submit evidence of their sexuality to army officials. They have been forced to submit explicit photos of themselves having sex with other men.
Turkey's military still defines homosexuality as an illness, referencing an American Psychiatric Association guide written in 1968.
